Bug About

It's the peak of the cold and flu season and it's been like 85 degrees in Sunny So. Cal.! While the outside thermostat started climbing like my little pea pod vines, my internal dial turned up to the tune of 101 degrees. Chills, sweats, typical viral illness. I laid in bed contemplating on how to get the bug out. But then I got to thinking, well at least this bug ain't having a party in my plants(haha, that sounded kind of funny)!  I can't think of a worse curse than having a bug devastate my small crop of edibles, at least on my first true run of winter gardening. So, I started California dreamin' of all the good food I will find in my garden. I was also hoping that my leafies would not be so affected by all this sudden heat. To my pleasant surprise, they had responded quite well to the extra warmth. Unfortunately the video I shot could not be uploaded.  But I was glad to be able to assemble a nice salad using a red bell pepper I found, and my green leafy lettuce, along with some avocado, and goat cheese. I made a vinaigrette using the beautiful olive oil and pistachio balsamic vinegar that I had bought from the Ferrari Olive Oil Company.

Ferrari Olive Oil is one of our tasting meetup events

Fauna and Florets...

It's like looking down a spiraling staircase, to see what peaks at you...
First florets of my winter broccoli finally budded...
